Hand Wash Activity at the Primary School in Kamla village


On February 27, 2024, a hand wash activity was conducted at the Primary School in Kamla village, where representatives from the ITC company were present, along with funds provided by them. They observed the entire activity and explained to the children the importance of maintaining hygiene, frequently emphasizing the significance of washing hands. In the activity, all staff members of ITC and the village's sarpanch were present, where all teachers of the school were gathered to introduce them to the organization. Children were given two glasses, water, and soap, and two students were called together. Then, all the teachers demonstrated proper handwashing techniques, emphasizing the importance of washing hands before meals and ensuring the children understood when and how to wash their hands. After that, one student was called to demonstrate how to wash hands step by step, and the teachers explained the process in detail to the students.

The discussion included the duties of the Prime Minister and their role and responsibilities, as well as those of the Ministerial Cabinet, such as the Health Minister, and their tasks. Specifically, the responsibilities of the Cleanliness Minister regarding the cleanliness of the school, including inspection of the grounds and monitoring the cleanliness of the school's sections, were highlighted. Household Surveys in Nadiad and Mahmedabad Blocks

Team successfully conducted 824 household surveys in the Nadiad and Mahmedabad blocks. These surveys were crucial in gathering comprehensive data on the challenges faced by households in these areas. The results highlighted significant issues, such as a lack of access to potable water, proper sanitation facilities, and functional drainage systems for a majority of the households. Furthermore, the surveys revealed high dropout rates among students and alarmingly low literacy rates among women. These findings point to the urgent need for targeted interventions aimed at improving both living conditions and educational outcomes in these communities. In total, 824 households were directly impacted by this survey.
