Child Cabinet at Degam village


On the date of 21-03-2024, the Child Cabinet meeting was held at Degam Primary School. The meeting primarily focused on the functioning of the Children's Parliament. Introductions were made for the members of the Children's Parliament Cabinet, and discussions were held regarding their roles and responsibilities. The discussion included the duties of the Prime Minister and their role and responsibilities, as well as those of the Ministerial Cabinet, such as the Health Minister, and their tasks. Specifically, the responsibilities of the Cleanliness Minister regarding the cleanliness of the school, including inspection of the grounds and monitoring the cleanliness of the school's sections, were highlighted. Following this, the Health Minister addressed the need for first aid provisions in schools. It was decided that first aid would be administered through first aid boxes as required, with arrangements made accordingly. In case of emergencies, the head teacher should be informed, and additional medical assistance should be sought from doctors or other healthcare professionals. The roles and responsibilities of various ministers, including the Environmental Minister, Cultural Minister, etc., were also discussed, and their tasks were explained to train the members of the Children's Parliament. The establishment of the Children's Parliament aims to instill democratic values among children and includes conducting digital elections. Information about the election process was provided to all applicants, and teachers were appointed as Chief Election Officers. They oversee the elections and assist other teachers. All first-time candidates for the Children's Parliament are required to register, and various accounts are maintained, including those of the Prime Minister, Health Minister, Cleanliness Minister, Education Minister, Sports Minister, Cultural Minister, etc. These accounts are managed during the democratic election to develop an understanding of governance among children, and the election process helps in spreading awareness and assigning roles and responsibilities to different ministers. Household Surveys in Nadiad and Mahmedabad Blocks

Team successfully conducted 824 household surveys in the Nadiad and Mahmedabad blocks. These surveys were crucial in gathering comprehensive data on the challenges faced by households in these areas. The results highlighted significant issues, such as a lack of access to potable water, proper sanitation facilities, and functional drainage systems for a majority of the households. Furthermore, the surveys revealed high dropout rates among students and alarmingly low literacy rates among women. These findings point to the urgent need for targeted interventions aimed at improving both living conditions and educational outcomes in these communities. In total, 824 households were directly impacted by this survey.
