Child Cabinet at Mokampura village


Date: 27-03-2024, Wednesday, Child Cabinet meeting was held at Mokampura Primary School. The meeting mainly focused on the functioning of the Children's Parliament. It introduced members of the Children's Parliament Cabinet and discussed their responsibilities. The discussion covered the duties of the Prime Minister, his/her role, and responsibilities, as well as those of the Minister of Cleanliness, particularly regarding school sanitation and morning ground cleaning. Following that, the Health Minister addressed the need to ensure the well-being of students in schools. It was decided that first aid would be provided through first aid boxes as needed, with arrangements made accordingly. In case of illness, the head teacher should be informed, and further medical assistance should be sought from a doctor. The activities of various ministries, including the Sports Minister, Environment Minister, Cultural Minister, etc., were also discussed, and their roles and responsibilities were made known to train the members of the Children's Parliament. The formation of the Children's Parliament aims to instill democratic values among children and involves conducting digital elections. Information about the election process was provided to all applicants, and teachers were appointed as Chief Election Officers. They oversee the elections and assist other teachers. All first-time candidates for the Children's Parliament are required to register, and various accounts are maintained, including those of the Prime Minister, Health Minister, Cleanliness Minister, Education Minister, Sports Minister, Cultural Minister, etc. These accounts are managed during the democratic election to develop an understanding of governance among children, and the election process helps in spreading awareness and assigning roles and responsibilities to different ministers. The Child Cabinet meeting concluded after addressing various aspects of the Children's Parliament and its functioning.

Household Surveys in Nadiad and Mahmedabad Blocks

Team successfully conducted 824 household surveys in the Nadiad and Mahmedabad blocks. These surveys were crucial in gathering comprehensive data on the challenges faced by households in these areas. The results highlighted significant issues, such as a lack of access to potable water, proper sanitation facilities, and functional drainage systems for a majority of the households. Furthermore, the surveys revealed high dropout rates among students and alarmingly low literacy rates among women. These findings point to the urgent need for targeted interventions aimed at improving both living conditions and educational outcomes in these communities. In total, 824 households were directly impacted by this survey.
