Hand wash Awareness Activity at the Primary School, Hathnoli
On March 2, 2024, a Hand Wash Awareness Activity was organized at the primary school, Hathnoli. The main objective of the activity was to gather all the staff members of the school along with students from different grades, introduce them to the organization, and educate them about the importance of handwashing. Two students from each grade were called along with two glasses, water, and soap. After gathering, all participants were demonstrated how to wash hands properly, emphasizing the importance of washing hands before eating and after various activities such as using the toilet, playing, visiting crowded places like markets, and helping with household chores. The activity highlighted the significance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, not only for personal health but also for the well-being of the community. Students were instructed on the proper technique of handwashing step by step, along with explanations about why regular handwashing is essential for maintaining good health and preventing illnesses. Emphasis was also placed on trimming fingernails regularly, keeping hair tidy, and being conscious of cleanliness both at home and in public places. After washing hands with plain water, students were guided through the steps using a Hand Wash Kit, and a video was shown explaining the correct procedure. It was explained that regular handwashing is crucial for our health and can significantly reduce the risk of falling ill. It was emphasized that this habit, when practiced consistently, proves to be highly beneficial throughout life. The Hand Wash Awareness Activity saw active participation from both students and school staff. Following the activity, Hand Wash Kits were distributed to students of the Child Cabinet and teachers, along with instructions on its usage. The initiative aimed to raise awareness and promote hygiene practices among the students and staff, ensuring the continuation of such awareness-building activities in the future. The presence of over 50 participants made the activity highly successful, indicating a keen interest and active participation in promoting hygiene practices. Overall, the Hand Wash Activity was enjoyed by both students and staff, and it successfully achieved its objectives of promoting hygiene awareness and fostering good handwashing habits.
