Duke University Students’ Visit to Silod Village

On June 19th, 2024, a group of students from Duke University visited Silod village. The purpose of the visit was to provide these students with an insightful experience regarding the governance and infrastructure of the village. During their visit, they inspected older homes in the area and were given a detailed explanation of the role of the Panchayat (village council) in local governance. A key part of the visit was a meeting arranged with the Sarpanch (village head) and Talati (village secretary), where students could interact and understand local leadership roles. Additionally, the students were shown a toilet block constructed by the organization as part of village development initiatives. The visit, facilitated by Ms. Belaben, gave the Duke University students a meaningful insight into the workings of rural administration in Silod.
