Anaemia and Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program in Silod and Varsola Villages
On July 9th, 2024, an awareness program on anemia and menstrual hygiene was conducted in the Anganwadi centers of Silod and Varsola villages. The event was organized to educate women and adolescent girls about the importance of maintaining their health, with a focus on anemia and menstrual hygiene. The session was led by Resource Person Ms. Matagiben, who provided insightful training on these topics. The workshop began with an explanation of anemia, including its causes, symptoms such as tiredness, frequent illness, difficulty breathing, and overall weakness. Attendees were encouraged to consume iron-rich foods, including green vegetables, legumes, dairy products, and yellow fruits, to combat anemia. They were also advised to check their blood every three months to monitor their health. Current statistics from Kheda District highlight the prevalence of anemia, with 72.9% of pregnant women and 76.2% of adolescent girls affected. In addition to anemia, the workshop covered essential information on menstruation, emphasizing its stages, the importance of cleanliness during periods, and proper usage of sanitary pads. The program benefited 75 participants and aimed to improve the overall well-being of women and adolescent girls in these rural areas.
