SMDC Meeting on Infrastructure Development at Nani Silod Primary School


On July 18, 2024, a School Management and Development Committee (SMDC) meeting was held at Nani Silod Primary School to discuss the development of key infrastructure projects under the ITC project led by the Saath organization. The meeting focused on constructing a kitchen shed, handwash station, and drinking water tank to enhance school facilities. The meeting was attended by the school's principal, Ms. Heenaben Mehra, SMDC members, and School Teachers. During the session, the Saath organization's Project Officer provided an overview of past SMDC meetings and outlined the new initiatives. A key point of discussion was obtaining 10% of the project cost as a community contribution from the village. The meeting also addressed the approval process involving the Taluka Primary Education Officer (TPEO) and the District Primary Education Officer (DPEO). Following the discussions, the attendees inspected the newly constructed toilets and school premises. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing the planned projects.

On the date of 21-03-2024, the Child Cabinet meeting was held at Nani Siloda Primary School. The meeting primarily focused on the functioning of the Children's Parliament. Introductions were made for the members of the Children's Parliament Cabinet, and discussions were held regarding their roles and responsibilities. The discussion included the duties of the Prime Minister and their role and responsibilities, as well as those of the Ministerial Cabinet, such as the Health Minister, and their tasks. Specifically, the responsibilities of the Cleanliness Minister regarding the cleanliness of the school, including inspection of the grounds and monitoring the cleanliness of the school's sections, were highlighted. Household Surveys in Nadiad and Mahmedabad Blocks

Team successfully conducted 824 household surveys in the Nadiad and Mahmedabad blocks. These surveys were crucial in gathering comprehensive data on the challenges faced by households in these areas. The results highlighted significant issues, such as a lack of access to potable water, proper sanitation facilities, and functional drainage systems for a majority of the households. Furthermore, the surveys revealed high dropout rates among students and alarmingly low literacy rates among women. These findings point to the urgent need for targeted interventions aimed at improving both living conditions and educational outcomes in these communities. In total, 824 households were directly impacted by this survey.
